Add vehicles to your garage and let Rennch automatically populate specifications using your VIN.
On iPhone/iPad
- Open the Garage tab from the bottom navigation bar
- Tap the “+” button in the upper-right corner (or tap “Add Vehicle” if your garage is empty)
- Enter your VIN (17-character Vehicle Identification Number) in the VIN field
- Tap “Decode VIN” — Rennch connects to the NHTSA database to retrieve:
- Year, Make, and Model
- Engine specifications (cylinders, displacement, horsepower)
- Transmission type
- Body style and drivetrain
- Manufacturer-recommended maintenance intervals
- Review and edit any decoded information as needed
- Add a vehicle photo by tapping the photo area and selecting from your Photo Library or taking a new picture
- Enter current mileage — this is essential for accurate maintenance tracking
- Tap “Save” to add the vehicle to your garage
On Mac
- Select the Garage section from the sidebar
- Click “Add Vehicle” in the toolbar or empty garage area
- Enter your VIN in the VIN field
- Click “Decode VIN” to auto-populate specifications
- Review the decoded information — all fields are editable if corrections are needed
- Click the photo area to add a vehicle image from your Mac
- Enter the current mileage
- Click “Save” to complete
Tips
- VIN Location: Find your VIN on the driver’s side dashboard (visible through windshield), driver’s door jamb, or vehicle registration/insurance documents
- Edit Later: All vehicle information can be edited at any time by selecting the vehicle and tapping/clicking “Edit”
- Decoded specs aren’t perfect: VIN decoding provides a great starting point, but some details (like trim-specific options) may need manual adjustment
