I built Rennch because I was tired of hunting for the right receipt. Maintenance history was scattered across glovebox folders, email threads, and a shoebox that was somehow always in the other car.
Version 2.0 is the biggest step yet toward the car maintenance app I always wanted: one organized garage that covers the whole ownership workflow. That means planning the work, recording it, documenting it, stocking the parts, and knowing what it all costs. It builds on everything in Version History, including the global reach we added in v1.10.
A service history that builds itself
Every record captures date, mileage, category, provider, cost, and notes, with receipts, invoices, photos, and PDFs attached. What’s new is how little typing it takes. Scan a paper invoice with the camera and OCR pulls out the details. Import from Photos or Files. Bring in an existing history from CSV instead of retyping ten years of oil changes. Add a VIN and Rennch decodes it through NHTSA’s vPIC database, which covers model years 1981 and forward. You can also try the free VIN Lookup Tool on this site. Fuel fill-ups are tracked as well, with efficiency calculated from your actual fill-ups. You can include or exclude fuel from your cost totals.
Why does this matter? Hagerty’s editors describe good service documentation as adding to a car’s value and its story. Bring a Trailer asks sellers to supply maintenance records before a car is listed. Records are the cheapest way to protect what your car is worth.
Maintenance that stays ahead of you
Schedules can run on mileage, on time, or both. Start from built-in service templates, or create reusable milestone packages, including manufacturer-recommended ones, so a 30,000-mile service is one tap instead of a checklist you rebuild from memory.
Rennch shows what’s overdue, upcoming, and done. Send any item to Apple Calendar or Reminders, with lead times set by days or distance. You get the nudge before the deadline, not after. See Maintenance Scheduling & Reminders for the details.
Parts you can actually find
Standing in the garage with a filter in your hand, you shouldn’t have to wonder whether you have a spare. Scan a UPC or EAN barcode and Rennch looks up the product. If it can’t find it, it searches Amazon and lets you import what it discovers.
Track part numbers, brands, quantities, and prices. Set low-stock and reorder thresholds, and see at a glance what’s in stock, running low, or gone. A separate shopping list keeps reorders organized, and each vehicle shows its recommended maintenance parts. More in Parts & Inventory Management.
A digital Glovebox
Registration, insurance, title, emissions, warranty: the paperwork you need at the worst possible moment. The Glovebox stores all of it, scanned by camera or imported from Photos or Files. OCR captures the details, and Rennch tracks issue and expiration dates and flags what’s expiring or expired. Policy numbers, coverage, deductibles, and contacts live right beside the document. No more finding out your inspection lapsed from a traffic stop.
Ask Siri instead of opening the app
This is my favorite part of 2.0. Siri now understands your garage. Ask what maintenance is due, when the last oil change was, how much you spent this year, or when an emissions inspection expires. Ask it to add something to your parts shopping list, or to open your Garage, Glovebox, service form, or scheduling flow. The Quick Fuel Log widget also lets you record a fill-up without launching the app.
Reports, backups, and your data
Export a summary PDF for a quick snapshot, or a comprehensive vehicle-history report for a sale, a shop visit, or a Concours binder. See Professional PDF Reports for examples.
iCloud synchronization keeps your records in step across your Apple devices. Automatic local backups run in the background, and you can export and restore a complete backup any time. A duplicate cleanup tool tidies vehicle and service records. Rennch supports imperial or metric, your preferred currency, and five languages: English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
